If you like piña colada, then you’re going to go coco-nutty over Coco Lopez’s Cream of Coconut – it’s just the right consistency for the totally tropical classic cocktail – indeed, it’s claimed that it was the key ingredient in the very first piña colada, made in Puerto Rico back in the 1950s.
Made from sun-ripened coconuts and blended with natural cane sugar for the right balance of sweetness, no self-respecting Caribbean bartender’s stock is complete without a few tins of this white gold.
Not just for cocktails, it can also be used to make coconut ice cream and frozen yogurt, as an ingredient in cheesecake or coconut cake, or just poured over desserts instead of cream. Coco-yum!
Coco Lopez
Regarded by many as the best on the market and wonderfully rich – Coco Lopez Coconut Cream has the provenance of being invented by Don Ramon Lopez Irizarry in Puerto Rico way back in the 1950s. Rumoured by some to be the true inventor of the world-famous Pina Colada cocktail and dissatisfied with the calibre of available coconut creams, Señor Lopez took matters into his own hands by reinventing the method of extracting coconut cream from the heart of the coconut… and his extraction methods and recipe are still followed to this day.
